The Call to Duty
When the Commander In Chief calls America's young men and women to defend our soil, Pennsylvanians heed the call. 1.3 million served in WW II, 300,000 in Korea, 400,000 in Vietnam, and 35,000 in the Gulf Wars. There are over 1.2 million military veterans in Pennsylvania today — approximately 10% of the state's population.
Yet there was no recognition of their service, their achievements, or their sacrifices. There was no program designed where the valuable lessons of their service experiences could be passed on. There was nothing to honor those from the Keystone State who answered duty's call.
Until now.
The PA Veterans Museum is expected to open in the autumn of 2004.
The goal: is to create a historically accurate resource for students, educators and the general public.
The plan: is to present warfare with numbing realism.
The hope: is that those who come after will learn from, honor and remember the sacrifices made by those who came before.
This is your Museum.
